Body sculpting with injection lipolysis (fat-away injection)
As an alternative to surgical liposuction, there are now modern minimally invasive or non-invasive methods for melting away localised fat deposits (problem areas). The fat-away injection is ideal for targeted modelling of localised problem areas that often prove resistant to diet and exercise. In addition to the permanent reduction of fat deposits, it also has a tightening effect on the overlying skin. However, this procedure is not suitable for reducing general excess weight!
The advantages of injection lipolysis over conventional liposuction are as follows:
- No general or local anaesthesia required
- No general surgical risks, such as thrombosis, embolism, scarring or wound healing disorders
- No downtime
- No relevant restrictions after treatment
- No hospital stay
- No need to wear compression garments for 6 weeks
The following areas of the body can be treated:
- Double chin
- Cheeks (sagging cheeks)
- Neck
- Fat deposits on the shoulder-arm joints
- Upper arms (back)
- Back areas
- Love handles
- Hips
- Upper and lower abdomen
- Lower buttocks, transition to thighs
- Saddlebags
- Inner thighs
- Knees
- Lipomas
- As a supplement to liposuction

Injection lipolysis (fat-away injection)
How it works
The active ingredient in the fat-away injection is a natural product (phosphatidylcholine) extracted from soybeans. It is produced in the same composition in the body, where it performs a variety of tasks. This active ingredient is injected directly into the unwanted fat deposits using very small needles. There it spreads evenly and dissolves the membranes of the fat cells. This creates tiny fat droplets, which are broken down, transported to the liver and metabolised there, just like the fats absorbed with food. The fat-away injection is not a new miracle cure for weight loss. However, it is able to melt away and metabolise localised fat deposits that cannot be reduced by diet changes or targeted exercise therapy. However, it cannot reduce general overweight! The fat-away injection can be performed without local anaesthesia, and a bandage or compression garment is not necessary. Liposuction remains the method of choice for reducing very large fat deposits.

Information
The drug used for injection lipolysis is a liver protection preparation that has been known for many years and is also used to prevent fat clots in the blood. It has not yet been approved for injection lipolysis. However, this is not the only form of therapy that is successfully used without approval (so-called ‘off-label use’). A well-known example of a treatment that has been used millions of times over many years without approval is botulinum toxin type A injections for wrinkle treatment. Based on many years of experience, the members of NETZWERK-LIPOLYSE have not identified any health risks. The active ingredient itself and its metabolism have been very well researched and documented. The only side effects after treatment are temporary redness, swelling with sensitivity to pressure and muscle ache-like discomfort, as well as small bruises. After a few days, the treated area is symptom-free. In our personal and detailed consultation, we will provide you with detailed information about the individual and general side effects and risks.
Supportive measures during treatment with the fat-away injection
You can positively influence the treatment results through your cooperation.
Please note the following information:
- Treatment with fat-away injections is not a substitute for changing your eating habits! There is a misconception that you can eat even more than before because of the treatment. In most cases, weight gain is inevitable. Before starting treatment, it is important to realise that the therapy is not a substitute for necessary changes.
- Before and after the therapy, except for the treatment of double chin and jowls, drink as much fluid as possible, ideally still water. This will support your circulation. You will feel much better if you increase your water consumption to up to 4 litres a day in the first few days. This does not apply to patients with pre-existing heart/circulatory or kidney conditions!
- Dinner cancelling: This is a very simple method for changing your eating habits. If you can refrain from eating meals and drinking alcohol after 5 p.m. every other day, your physical well-being will improve significantly in a short period of time. After 5 p.m., only drink still water or calorie-free beverages. Your body will thank you for it.
- Fat burning through exercise
- The time of day you exercise has a significant impact on whether or not you burn fat. Get into the habit of always exercising before breakfast on an empty stomach so that fat burning can start as quickly as possible. You can use an exercise bike, do aerobics or other exercises to trigger the process. Jogging or intensive walking can also help improve the results.
Frequently asked questions:
Can I lose weight with the help of the fat-away injection?
The fat-away injection therapy is not suitable for general weight loss, but for melting away localised fat deposits. For general weight loss, we offer an excellent concept in collaboration with our partner. Please enquire with us.
Which areas of the body are particularly suitable for fat-away injections?
Areas with soft body fat on the abdomen, face, inner thighs and hips are particularly well suited to treatment. As the skin contracts elastically when the fat cells melt away, creating a smooth, homogeneous surface, good results can also be achieved with some forms of cellulite. After liposuction, injection lipolysis supports the follow-up treatment of remaining fat deposits and contour irregularities, such as dimples. Typical female problem areas are found in the waist or upper/lower abdomen, hips (love handles), thighs (inner thighs), back of the upper arms, double chin and around the buttocks. ‘Saddlebags’ are fat deposits that are difficult to mobilise by normal means, as these fat deposits are only broken down by the body at a late stage, even through sporting activities or dieting. In most men, fat deposits (problem areas) are found around the waist or upper/lower abdomen (so-called ‘spare tyre’), on the hips (love handles) and on the double chin.
Do the fat deposits dissolved by the fat-away injection disappear permanently? How long do the results last?
According to current knowledge, once fat cells have been dissolved, they do not reform. This makes it possible to permanently reduce fat deposits. If your weight does not change, the results will remain constant. However, if you eat excessively, the remaining fat cells in the treated area may fill up and enlarge.
What is the particular advantage of the fat-away injection?
The fat-away injection enables a permanent reduction of fat deposits, especially in areas that cannot be specifically reduced through diet or exercise. The treatment is gentle, virtually painless, low-risk and quick to perform. No complex pre- or post-treatment is necessary. As a rule, there are no restrictions on your ability to work.
How do I decide whether the fat-away injection (injection lipolysis) or liposuction is more suitable for me?
For a long time, liposuction was the only way to remove specific areas of fat. This is still the preferred method for larger fat deposits. However, with the help of fat-away injections, it is now possible to remove fat deposits gently and with minimal effort. The main difference is that injection lipolysis is a non-surgical treatment method, while liposuction requires surgery. With liposuction, the fat disappears in a very short time. Injection lipolysis allows for a slower change in body contour and thus in one’s self-image over a period of several months. Injection lipolysis is also an ideal complementary treatment method after liposuction. It can be used to eliminate contour irregularities and residual fat deposits (dimples) that were not removed during liposuction and to tighten the surrounding skin.
How many treatments are necessary?
As a rule, 2-4 treatments at intervals of 8 weeks are sufficient.
Is treatment with fat-away injections painful?
The injections are relatively painless. You only feel the prick briefly and then a slight itching sensation. An anaesthetic cream is applied to the skin before the treatment.
Does health insurance cover the costs?
Aesthetic medical treatments are not covered by health insurance and must be paid for by the patient. But beware of dubious low-cost providers. Please read the comments from the professional association Netzwerk-Lipolyse and ISL. Comments on costs
What are the risks associated with fat-away injections?
Immediately after the treatment, swelling with sensitivity to pressure, small bruises and redness may occur. These can last for several days. Massage, saunas, solariums and sports should be avoided for the first 3 days. In rare cases, hardening may occur, but this will disappear on its own after 2-6 weeks. Overall, this procedure is classified as having few side effects.
Who is not suitable for treatment with the fat-away injection?
Treatment with the fat-away injection is not suitable and must not be carried out on minors, pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers or people with certain rare, serious illnesses. You can obtain more detailed information on whether the treatment is suitable for you in a personal consultation.
